Aiden Ross Wins The Voice: Texas A&M Sophomore Makes History as First Aggie Champion
Aggie singer Aiden Ross takes home the top prize on the national stage, mentored by coach Niall Horan and wowing judges including Reba McEntire and Snoop Dogg.
COLLEGE STATION — Texas A&M University sophomore
Aiden Ross has clinched the title of “The Voice” champion, securing a historic
win as the first Aggie ever to take home the top prize on the iconic NBC
singing competition. In a nail-biting finale, Ross’s remarkable vocal talent impressed
a superstar panel of coaches—Michael Bublé, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan, and Reba
McEntire—and captivated viewers nationwide.
After weeks of intense live performances and competition,
Ross was declared the winner, prevailing over five other talented finalists.
His victory marks a crowning achievement for both the young artist and the
university community that supported his journey.
Mentorship from a Pop Star: The Niall Horan Connection
This season, Ross was guided by coach and former One
Direction member Niall Horan, who selected him to represent Team Horan in the
finale. Ross credits Horan with providing exceptional mentorship and creative
inspiration throughout the competition.
“I have a great connection with him. He has been a great
mentor to me throughout this process,” Ross said. “He also just makes the kind
of music that I want to create one day.”
Ross is currently studying industrial distribution at
Texas A&M, admitting he initially avoided pursuing a music degree due to
uncertainty about his future in the industry.
“I couldn’t see the light at the end of the tunnel. I
didn’t think that there was a space in it for me,” Ross confessed. “But since
‘The Voice’ started, I started to see this light. And the farther I’ve gotten
in this process, it’s just started to burn brighter and brighter.”
Finding His Voice in Aggieland
Although not a music major, Ross found his artistic
community at Texas A&M by joining the acclaimed a cappella group HardChord
DynaMix. That
experience, he says, solidified his sense of belonging.
“I think the moment that I realized that I belonged at
Aggieland was whenever I joined the a cappella group… I was immediately
welcomed with open arms,” Ross recalled. “I think that’s just a really special
thing about this university — that with it being such a big school, there’s a
space for everybody, as long as you’re willing to seek it out.”
Balancing academics and his rising music career has been
a unique challenge. “I’m not a full-time student currently, but I am still
taking classes, and so finding that balance between doing my schoolwork and
doing my music work has been really fun, but really interesting,” he noted.
A Launchpad for a Music Career
Ross’s momentum has been building. In September, he
released his debut single, “Everything and More,” which has already amassed nearly
150,000 streams. Winning “The Voice” has now given him the definitive
confidence to pursue music full-time.
“I’m ready to give music my everything,” Ross declared
after his victory.
His win not only makes university history but also serves
as an inspiration to students, proving that passion and dedication can forge a
path to national acclaim, regardless of one’s declared major. The Aggie network
now has a new champion—one whose voice has echoed triumphantly from campus to
coast.
