FIFA President Defends World Cup Ticket Prices Amid Fan Outrage

FIFA president defends World Cup ticket prices that have sparked global fan frustration.

Prices range from $140 for early group matches to $2,735 for the U.S. opener against Paraguay in Los Angeles.

Knockout round tickets are far more expensive.

The final in New Jersey costs between $4,185 and $8,680. Consequently, FIFA announced a limited number of $60 tickets for each match.

However, these will only be a small fraction of available seats.

Infantino Cites Unprecedented Demand and Global Investment

FIFA president defends World Cup ticket prices by highlighting record-breaking interest. "This shows how powerful the World Cup is," Infantino stated at the World Sports Summit in Dubai.

Furthermore, he argued that the revenue is essential for global soccer development.

"Without FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries in the world," he claimed.

Therefore, he positions the high prices as an investment. Ultimately, the funds will be "reinvested all over the world."

The current sales window remains open until January 13. Applications will be processed through a lottery system, not on a first-come, first-served basis.
