Player Grades: Cavs at Hornets – Donovan Mitchell's 100th 30-Point Game Seals Win

Player Grades: Cavs at Hornets – Donovan Mitchell turns in his 100th 30+ point game as a Cavalier in a thrilling 115-110 victory.

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell driving to the basket during his 100th 30-point game as a Cavalier against the Charlotte Hornets.

The Cleveland Cavaliers extended their winning streak to seven games after a hard-fought battle against the Charlotte Hornets. Here's how each player performed based on our expectations.

Star Performances Lead the Way

Donovan Mitchell – Grade: A–

Donovan Mitchell turned in his 100th 30+ point game as a Cavalier despite a slow start. He opened the game shooting just 4-of-15 from the field. However, he caught fire when Cleveland needed him most. Consequently, he shot 5-of-8 down the stretch. He finished with 32 points, 4 assists, and 3 rebounds. His clutch scoring proved essential for the narrow victory.

James Harden – Grade: B+

James Harden continues to elevate the Cavaliers' offense. He recorded 18 points and 8 assists with remarkable efficiency. The offense feels more potent with him running the show. However, he could have contributed more on the boards. Additionally, sharper off-ball defense would elevate his grade further.

Jarrett Allen – Grade: A+

Jarrett Allen delivered a dominant performance. He posted 26 points and 14 rebounds while attacking the paint relentlessly. The Hornets simply couldn't stop him. If he hadn't hauled in 14 rebounds, Cleveland would have lost this game. His sustained aggression has been a joy to watch for weeks.

Supporting Cast Contributions

Dennis Schroder – Grade: A-

Schroder continues to be a defensive pest for opponents. He came up with two huge steals in the second half. Consequently, he gives the Cavs bench an edge they've been missing all season. His energy and tenacity are invaluable.

Sam Merrill – Grade: B+

Merrill found more success tonight than in recent outings. He hit 2-of-4 from beyond the arc. Additionally, he executed a beautiful backdoor cut early in the first half. His shooting remains a valuable weapon off the bench.

Dean Wade – Grade: A+

Wade hasn't missed a shot since returning from the All-Star break. He knocked down consecutive three-pointers in the fourth quarter. These clutch shots helped seal the victory for Cleveland. His timely scoring proved crucial.

Thomas Bryant – Grade: B-

Bryant delivered a mixed performance tonight. His third-quarter block was absolutely electric. However, he appeared a step too slow at times. This fast-paced matchup exposed some defensive limitations.

Defensive Specialists Shine

Cavaliers center Jarrett Allen aggressively attacking the rim for one of his 26 points in a dominant double-double performance against Charlotte.

Keon Ellis – Grade: A–

Ellis continues to amaze with his defensive instincts. I'm convinced he can clone himself and appear in multiple places at once. That's the only explanation for some of his defensive plays. He contributed 4 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. His two steals highlight his impact on that end.

Jaylon Tyson – Grade: B-

Tyson's role has changed significantly since Harden arrived. He simply isn't getting as many offensive opportunities now. Therefore, we must adjust our grading expectations accordingly. That said, Cleveland could have used better effort on the glass from him tonight.
